BNSF sets agenda for annual diversity forum

On Aug. 14 and 15, Burlington Northern Santa Fe plans to conduct a diversity forum in Fort Worth, Texas.

In 2000, the Class I began holding annual diversity conferences to enable managers and employees to share ideas, and identify ways the railroad can enhance diversity programs.

"Previous forums have been very successful in identifying issues, brainstorming ways to break down barriers and developing ideas to create more opportunities for employees," said BNSF Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Rose in a prepared statement.

Entitled "Beyond Diversity: Pulling Together as Team BNSF," this year's forum will focus on how every employee can encourage diverse opinions and actions, and help attract minority talent.

The railroad randomly selected 250 union and non-union employees from various departments to attend the forum, including representatives from BNSF's regional diversity councils.

Participants will discuss BNSF's diversity programs and how they're progressing, share ideas on making BNSF more diverse and attend workshops focusing on ways to incorporate daily diversity principles.
