Metro-North ratifies contract with signalmen's union

MTA Metro-North Railroad recently reached an agreement with the last of its 19 labor unions.

Last month, 222 members of the signalmen’s union, the Association of Commuter Railroad Employees Division 166, ratified their contract. The pact then was approved by the agency’s board. Retroactive to Jan. 1, 2007, the contract was extended six months beyond the usual three-year term to June 15, 2010, to help pay for some contract changes, notably an improved pension plan.

Metro-North now has settled contracts covering all its 4,900 union-represented workers.
