Denver RTD commuter line reaches 20 million riders
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) in Denver last week reached the 20 million passenger mark on the University of Colorado A Line.
The line, which operates between downtown Denver and the Denver International Airport, has consistently exceeded ridership projections since opening in 2016, according to an RTD press release.
The A Line has carried an average of 20,600 weekday passengers this year through March, and has logged a 92 percent on-time performance record this year to date, RTD officials said.
RTD in January added four-car trains to the corridor, doubling capacity on the line to accommodate the increasing volume of riders.
The commuter line is also the first of RTD’s rail lines to have federally required positive train control technology implemented.
