HNTB Corp. has hired Alexa Gangemi as the firm’s transit and rail senior project manager and associate vice president. Gangemi has more than 20 years of experience and has worked for transit agencies in Maryland, New York, Texas and Virgina. She also previously served as director of strategic planning for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority. Gangemi’s background includes the implementation of technologies used for fare collection, rail crew management, dispatching and timekeeping processes, HNTB officials said in a press release.

IntegriCo Composites now is offering IntegriTies™, a composite tie produced from landfill-bound recyclable plastics. The ties offer a more environmentally-friendly alternative to wood ties, according to an IntegriCo press release. One mile of track typically has about 3,650 ties, which means at least 912 trees are needed to produce the ties; alternatively, IntegriCo converts 765,000 pounds of plastic into IntegriTies that would be installed on one mile of track, company officials said.

Transit Wireless has launched a digital media business to provide additional products and services for the existing network in MTA New York City Transit’s subway and other transit systems. The solutions will include data, advertising, internet of things and data offload, according to a Transit Wireless press release. The company also hired Craig Collins as senior vice president of sales and business development, and Amy McLaughlin as general manager of Wi-Fi data and advertising.

CloudMoyo Inc. has released the next-generation CloudMoyo Crew Management (CCM) solution, which is built on the CloudMoyo transportation platform. CCM harnesses analytics and artificial intelligence to enhance agility and improve operational efficiencies for railroads, CloudMoyo officials said in a press release. CCM also can help railroads ensure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration regulations, drug and alcohol testing, and union rules. The solution is designed to allow crews from different geographies to operate seamlessly through automated re-crewing operations. It can manage worklists for yard crews and calculate pay rates based on the applicable union agreements. "Railroad modernization initiatives like precision scheduled railroading demand agility to keep up with the rapidly changing technology landscape and continuously evolving business models in the transportation industry," CloudMoyo officials said.

Altoona Pipe and Steel Co. has promoted Scott Hileman, Neil Hollander, Brian Ickes and George Mansfield to senior vice president. They will continue to oversee the operational management of their departments and help facilitate strategies to improve the customer base, provide exceptional service and increase overall profitability, Altoona Pipe officials said in a press release. The company provides rail-car repair services through Altoona Railcar Repair.

Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING) and FASTPORT, a verteran employment software company, have partnered to offer railroads a resource and cooperative solution for recruiting and retention. Together, the companies aim to create new apprenticeships in the rail industry, help formalize existing training programs and create national reliable models for industry-based instruction and on-the-job training, SPRING and FASTPORT officials said in a press release. They also aim to source apprenticeship candidates.

The Railway Supply Institute (RSI) has opened the nomination period for executives from member companies to serve on its board. RSI is seeking three new board members for a three-year term beginning in January 2022. Board members are expected to attend three annual in-person meetings, participate on committees and be available to staff and members. The nomination deadline is June 3, and self-nominations are encouraged, RSI officials said in a press release.
