The California High-Speed Rail Authority last week received statements of qualifications from five teams interested in designing and building the next segment of the high-speed rail route in California's Central Valley.

Submitting the statements were California Rail Builders, Central Valley Connection Builders, Dragados/Flatiron JV, Salini Impregilo/Security Paving JV and Tutor Perini/Zachry/Parsons, according to an authority press release.

The statements are the first part of a two-part procurement process. The authority will evaluate them based on best value criteria that include technical components and price.

The CP 4 segment consists of 22 miles of civil work, beginning one mile north of the Kern/Tulare County line and ending at Poplar Road north of Bakersfield, Calif. This extends South of Construction Package 2-3, officials said.

CP 4 has a value of $400 million to $500 million.
