Trump taps Gruters to serve on Amtrak board

President Donald Trump has named Florida State Rep. Joseph Gruters to Amtrak's board of directors.

He will serve the remainder of a five-year term that expires Oct. 4, 2022.

A certified public accountant, Gruters has been active in political and community organizations for the past 20 years, according to a White House statement.

Gruters co-chaired Trump's 2016 presidential campaign in Florida. Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Gruters twice to the Florida State University Board of Trustees, where he has chaired the Finance and Audit Committee.
