The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee recently launched a new website aimed at enhancing communication about its initiatives, plans and goals for strengthening U.S. infrastructure.
Accessible at transport.house.gov, the new site features a more user-friendly interface and incorporates several "rebranding" initiatives, such as the use of the word "transport" in a new logo designed to be more identifiable.
The committee has tried to expand its use of social media and digital platforms to amplify the message that more modern, efficient infrastructure can "provide a sound foundation for U.S. economic competitiveness, growth and prosperity," committee members said in a press release.
For example, the committee now is using YouTube to stream hearings, meetings and events, and producing infographics to help educate members of Congress and the public about key legislation.
"Effectively communicating our message is essential to ensuring a strong and vital transportation network, especially given the challenges of punching through the constant flow of news and information today," said U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), who chairs the committee.
