Indiana Rail Road, BLET reach tentative agreement

The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) recently reached a tentative agreement with the Indiana Rail Road Co. (INRD) that governs rates of pay and work rules for more than 70 members in the train operator craft.

The union now is conducting a ratification vote and mailed ballots to members employed by INRD on Sept. 13. Completed ballots are due to the BLET by Oct. 15.

Founded in 1986, INRD operates 500 miles of track in central and southwest Indiana, and central Illinois. The railroad hauls a variety of consumer, energy and industrial products, and connects with six Class Is: BNSF Railway Co., CN, Canadian Pacific, CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
