TTCI marks workplace safety milestone

Since April 12, 2012, Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI) employees have logged 500,114 work hours without a lost time injury. The research and development facility marked the safety achievement with a celebratory breakfast last week.

"I am proud to announce that during our busiest 12-month period in TTCI history, retirements of many long-term employees, and during the transition of new employees into the workplace, our employees continue the tradition of making safety a top priority in the workplace," said TTCI Vice President of Operations and Programs Mike Sherer in a press release.

TTCI employs a long-established, employee-led safety program. A safety resource team works proactively with all employees, customers and contractors to recognize and eliminate potential hazards in the workplace environment, TTCI officials said.

"Reaching this milestone displays the efforts by TTCI employees to continually make their workplace safer," said Safety Manager Terrence Terrill.

A wholly owned Association of American Railroads subsidiary, TTCI researches, develops and tests all types of rolling stock, vehicle and track components, and safety devices. The center also provides consulting and training services for rail-related technologies.
