Anderton assumes assistant director post at Port Everglades

Port Everglades recently promoted David Anderton to the newly created position of assistant director-strategic planning and development.

He will be responsible for providing oversight and direction for the development and implementation of short- and long-range strategic plans, including facilities planning, capital improvements programming and implementing the port's five-year, $500 million capital program.

A planning expert, Anderton joined the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale, Fla., port in 2002 in the seaport engineering and construction division of Broward County, which owns Port Everglades. He previously held various senior positions with consulting firms Atkins Global, Craig A. Smith & Associates, and the city of West Palm Beach, Fla.

In conjunction with Florida East Coast Railway L.L.C., the port plans to build a 42.5-acre intermodal container transfer facility. Construction is slated to start early this year and conclude in spring 2014.
