UTA to mark opening of new FrontRunner South Line

The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) will host a celebration tomorrow for the Dec. 10 opening of the new FrontRunner South commuter-rail line between Salt Lake City and Provo.

UTA, government and civic leaders will be on hand to mark the project's completion tomorrow, while the public will have an opportunity to try the new service for free on Dec. 8. The line officially launches service on Dec. 10, UTA officials said in a prepared statement.

UTA broke ground on the Frontrunner South project in August 2008. Located along a 45-mile stretch of existing Union Pacific Railroad corridor, the line features six stations, 34 public grade crossings and 30 bridges.
