L.A. Metro preps Gold Line tracks for Regional Connector project

As part of ongoing construction work for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (Metro) Regional Connector Transit Project, crews next week will begin the process of relocating existing Gold Line tracks in L.A.'s Little Tokyo area.

Workers will move Gold Line tracks about 40 feet to the north of 1st Street at Alameda Street and reconfigure the southern station entrance of the existing Little Tokyo Gold Line station, L.A. Metro officials said in a construction update.

The work is being performed to prepare for the start of tunneling operations and is expected to take up to three months to complete.

The Regional Connector Transit Project will add 1.9 miles of underground light-rail tracks connecting the Gold Line to the 7th Street/Metro Center Station. The project is slated to provide a direct connection between Azusa and Long Beach, Calif., and between East L.A. and Santa Monica, Calif.
