PSA Halifax, a terminal operator at the Halifax port in Nova Scotia, Canada, on Nov. 25 announced the first call of its new Amerigo service between the Mediterranean and North America.

The service is operated jointly by shipping companies CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, OOCL and ONE. It features port calls at key Mediterranean gateways in Italy and Spain and East Coast ports in New York, Virginia, Georgia and Florida, PSA Halifax officials said in a press release.

The service leverages PSA Halifax's expedited rail solutions, which can transfer time-sensitive cargo directly from vessel to rail using the CN network.

The new service provides our customers with more choices, faster transit times and a reliable service network between Mediterranean, southern Europe and Canada via Halifax, with seamless onward access to Montreal, Toronto and the U.S. Midwest via CN’s extensive rail network, said Duncan Glass, managing director of PSA Halifax.
